Sean Patrick Flanery Biography

"He's a cat inspired by everything he sees," says Sean Patrick Flanery of the Young Indy. "He's hungry for knowledge; everything interests him."

Flanery was handpicked out of thousands of actors to star as the young adventurer, Indy, in George Lucas’ critically acclaimed ABC television series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

Shooting the series was a major on- and off-screen adventure for Flanery who traveled to locations all over the world. With most of the episodes shot on the original historical sites, Flanery traveled to London, Madrid, Prague, Rome, Milan, Munich, Nairobi and Moscow.

After filming the young Indy series, Flanery starred in Spirit, a feature film with Diane Ladd and Shelley Winters. He also starred in Lie Down with the Dragon opposite Sheryl Lee for the Lifetime Channel.

Born in Lake Charles, La., Flanery grew up mostly in Houston where his mother was a real estate broker and his father owns a line of medical supply companies.

He was graduated from St. Thomas College, a private university in Houston, in 1988.

He majored in business with a focus on law, but began studying drama.

"I started doing theater throughout the city," Flanery said "I decided I was going to split once I got out of school and go out to L.A., and so I did."

He began working as a waiter in L.A. while taking roles in theater and looking for acting jobs. Within a year, he had both an agent and his first professional exposure, Just Perfect, a film for The Disney Channel.

Connections he made on that shoot led to a second Disney film, My Life as a Babysitter. By this time, he had acquired a commercial agent and soon had three national ads running simultaneously: Kelloggs, McDonalds and Milk Does A Body Good for the National Milk Board.

Flanery's other interests include music and sports.
